Barney York Ranch Beef
Barney York provides premium grass-fed and grass/grain-fed beef. Our cattle are Black Angus. No growth hormones or steroids are used on our cattle. They enjoy life on our ranch the Barney York located in Prescott Arizona. Both beef options will be dry-aged and are individually packaged and frozen. Learn more about our cattle here.

If you are a previous customer or interested in purchasing a half or whole beef please let us know now. It takes several months to get our feeder steers to the appropriate weight that is most desirable for harvest.
Beef is processed with Perkinsville Meat Processing. Customers will be provided with a cut preference sheet to customize for their family needs. We handle all communication with Perkinsville and once meat is ready we deliver to you! *Prescott area delivery only*
Our Beef - Grass Fed Supplemented with Grain: Our grass/grain-fed cattle graze our pastures on the Barney York. They are supplemented grain for 90-120 days but continue to roam the ranch eating a combination of grass including side oats, blue gamma and tall fescue.

What is hanging weight?
There are several ways to purchase beef, we choose to sell our beef based on the hanging weight.
Hanging weight is the weight of the cow carcass after initial slaughter and processing. It's the weight of the carcass after the hide, head and some organs have been removed. The actual meat you will receive is typically 60% +/- of the hanging weight.

Previous whole steer example:
Hanging weight = 560lbs / Meat back to customer: 363.56lbs
Grass-Fed Cattle
Our grass-fed cattle are strictly fed grass provided to them on our ranch in Prescott, Arizona. The grass is combination of side oats, blue gamma and tall fescue. They are rotated throughout the year to maintain adequate feeding and avoid overgrazing pastures.
Grass-Fed Supplemented with Grain
Our grass/grain-fed cattle graze our pastures on the Barney York. They are supplemented grain for 90-days but continue to roam the ranch eating a combination of grass including side oats, blue gamma and tall fescue. This option is highly recommended - delicious!
