Well, here we go again! We are moving! Thankfully we are staying in the same state and town this time. We were presented with the opportunity to move this old home ( I like to call her Beauty) from Long Meadow Ranch in Prescott, Arizona. Long Meadow Ranch was recently sold and the new owner is wanting to build her home in the location of where Beauty is currently located. The new owner was going to tear it down if the home wasn't taken by anyone. :( The old saying is true - One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure.
Because of the size of Beauty there was limited places to relocate her. Long Meadow Ranch is very close to the Barney York Ranch so when the opportunity was presented to my Dad, he immediately thought of us. It has always been Heath and I’s dream to live at the ranch and raise our family. Heath and I were married at the ranch and we found out we were having a little girl there too. It’s a very special place for us.
We are so excited for this whole process and to make Beauty our home. From what we’ve been told she’s an old Sears Kit Home most likely build in 1918 or 1919. So crazy to think that people would buy homes from a Sears catalog. The home most likely traveled in on the train and was built by the original owner. I’m on the hunt for more information and history of the home to incorporate into the remodel.
More, recently we’ve been trying to locate the perfect spot to put Beauty. We’ve decided to place her near Harper Tank on the Barney York Ranch. What is so unique about this spot is years ago a home use to sit in this spot, most likely someone from the Harper family. You can still find the footings of the home there. We love that not only is the home being saved with its rich ranch history but it’s staying on a nearby ranch. Countless people have told us they have had so many wonderful memorites in this home and we can’t wait to continue to do so. We are so excited for this journey and look forward to sharing it with you all!
Starting The Move - As you can see in the photos above they have began to remove the brick from the exterior. We plan to have the same brick porch, all the brick will be moved to the new home site and rebuilt.
